An entire street in Hamilton will be closed and transformed into an outdoor dining area in a Festival celebrating Bermuda’s food culture.

The Bermuda Alfresco Food Festival is being organized by the Bermuda Tourism Authority from March 25 to April 3 to promote outdoor dining at 18 participating locations island-wide.

A BTA spokeswoman said: “With the island’s array of beach-side bistros, restaurants on the edge of spectacular greens, and bustling sidewalk cafes, outdoor dining continues to prove a winning formula for foodies in Bermuda and visitors who particularly enjoy the outdoors.

“The alfresco approach lines up with a recent spike in demand for open air dining options that emerged through the pandemic.”

The BTA said there will be two signature experiences to look forward to. The first is called Bermudiana Live on Sunday, March 28 from 1pm to 9pm.

“This is an outdoor dining experience promoting restaurants and eateries along Bermudiana Road featuring live local entertainment. The street will be completely transformed into a pedestrian-only space, incorporating alfresco style seating. Reservations are recommended,” said the spokeswoman.

The second event, on April 3 from 11am to 2.30pm, is the Bermuda Easter Brunch “highlighting centuries-old local Bermuda holiday traditions and pastel-hued décor, where guests can bask in the delights of a typical Bermudian Easter”

The spokesperson added: “Bermuda’s restaurant industry has been faced with the extraordinary challenges of 2020 and they have pivoted to provide innovative new food service options, rearranging indoor dining spaces, expanding takeout delivery service and transforming the outdoor dining experience.

“With the success of the enhanced 2021 Restaurant Weeks programme, the BTA looks forward to extending its partner support to event promoters and restaurateurs through the marketing of the Alfresco Food Festival.”
