Female radio broadcasters were honoured at a Mother’s Day event packed with entertainment yesterday afternoon.
The group Strength for The Journey Ministry, founded by activist Gina Spence-Virgil, hosted the fundraiser from 1pm to 4pm at the Willowbank Resort Conference Centre in Sandys.
The event paid tribute to Shelley “Thunder” Johnson, Kristy “Miss Thang” Joseph, Shirley Dill, Zarah Harper, Nikita Robinson and Beverley Howell.

There was entertainment from MC Mr Magic, jazz musician Wendell “Shine” Hayward, Vance Goater and Septimus.
The Against All Odds award was given to Cheryl Kerr.
Proceeds from the event will go to the Gina Spence Productions charity’s community outreach.
The programme for at-risk children and families also provide food, grief counselling, school uniforms, Christmas toys and medicine for seniors in need.
