It was a dark and stormy night … have a wine and create that atmosphere, writers
People will get to taste new wines, socialise with friends and receive writing help during Wine and Wordsmithy’s second event on November 4.
Wine and Wordsmithy, a support group for writing and wine lovers, was created by public relations specialist Sian Blackmore and certified wine specialist Jo-Rena Davis, also known as the Wine Diva.
The group held their first event two weeks ago at Milan Milan on Front Street.
Next week’s event will be held at the St George’s Historical Society museum in St George and will focus on the importance of creating the right atmosphere through writing.
A statement read: “The evening’s participants will be guided through an expert wine tasting by the ‘Wine Diva’ in a literary style.
“Similar to the initial session, writers will be put through their creative paces by Sian Blackmore with two writing challenges oriented around creating mood in writing, designed to stimulate their imaginations and push them out of their comfort zones.
“There will also be an opportunity to collaborate and share work.”
Ms Blackmore considers Mitchell House, the home of the historical society, to be a perfect place for writers to drench themselves in atmospheric work, given its historical significance.
She added: “While we might be missing Hallowe'en by a few days, we think this will be a lot of fun for those with an imagination.”
Ms Davis said that the group is pleased to be able to create a fun and productive space for those who need a creative outlet.
“Let also not forget that we will also have some wonderful wines to give everyone liquid courage,” she said.
The event starts at 6pm and tickets are $85 including gratuities. They can be purchased here.
