Premier’s Concert set for Sunday
An annual musical celebration that was postponed out of respect for the late trade unionist Ottiwell Simmons has been rescheduled for Sunday.
The Premier’s Concert, hosted by the Department of Culture, celebrates Bermuda’s National Heroes with a line-up of home-grown musical talent.
The original concert was scheduled for June 25, but it was postponed for Mr Simmons’s funeral, which took place the same day.
The festival will feature a line-up of Bermudian artists that includes R&B artist Dakari Love, singer-songwriter Hana Bushara and the Bermuda Philharmonic Society.
The concert is a free event, although spaces are limited. Anyone who would like to register can visit the department’s website at culture.bm.
The Premier’s Concert was first introduced in December 1985 by Ruth E. Thomas, then a cultural affairs officer.
The event will take place at the Earl Cameron Theatre in City Hall, with doors to open at 5.30pm for a 6pm start.
