Monster crustaceans invading BUEI Kids Hour Saturdays

The Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute will offer a film screening of Invasion of the Monster Crabs as part of the Kids Hour Saturdays this month.

The short film is part of an episode from the Alien Takeover series. The Invasion of the Monster Crabs focuses on the king crab and takes a look at its evolutionary history, detailing why scientists are interested in studying this specific crustacean.

Kids Hours Saturdays takes places every third Saturday from 11am and then again at 2pm. After the screening of the films, a book reading will be held.

The book reading is for children between the ages of 5 and 12 years. This month’s book, is Herman the Hermit Crab by Cindy W Hollingsworth.

According to BUEI, the book details the author’s story and her first time meeting Herman the hermit crab while on a seashell hunt on Oak Island in North Carolina.

Kids Hours Saturdays is free for members and caregivers, but $4 is charged per child for non-members.

Parents must be present for the event.

For March 16, Kids Hour Saturdays will focus on humpback whales.

The Invasion of the Monster Crabs will takes place on February 17.
