Bermudian actress to star in Doctor Who
Bermudian-born actress Genesis Lynea is to star in the latest series of the worldwide hit TV show Doctor Who.
In the latest issue of Doctor Who Magazine, showrunner Russell T. Davies, said: “As the heat rises and May gets closer, it’s exciting to reveal even more cast names.
“Bear in mind we’ve still got big surprises to come!”
He added: “To ramp up your anticipation, it’s a joy to welcome Genesis Lynea on board.
“It was a great delight for me to work with Genesis on an ITV series called You and Me in 2023, and so much fun to work with her again, so soon, in a very different role.”
The fourteenth series of Doctor Who will be broadcast from May, with former Sex Education actor Ncuti Gatwa in the leading role.
Ms Lynea was born in Bermuda, but later moved to London with her mother and stepfather.
She attended the Brit School, a prestigious performing arts and technical school in London, alongside pop singer Jessie J and later graduated from the city’s Arts Educational School in 2013 with a BA in musical theatre.
Ms Lynea has starred in shows including the Netflix fantasy series Shadow & Boneand the BBC medical drama Casualty, as well as Silent Witness and A Discovery of Witness.
She has also had parts in the short films The Cost of Living and How Could I Forget.
