BUEI to screen series of short films
Oscar-nominated short films will be screened at the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute next week.
A spokeswoman said the ten finalists in this year’s Manhattan Short Film Festival will be shown in BUEI’s Tradewinds Auditorium on September 26 and October 2.
Audiences in more than 500 venues across six continents will vote for best film and actor in the festival, and shortlisted entries will qualify for the Academy Awards.
The spokeswoman added: “This year’s finalists hail from eight countries, with films from the United Kingdom, Italy, Ukraine, France, Australia, Croatia, the Netherlands, Ireland and two films from the USA.
“Films are linked by a common theme: how we face adversity, whether it is imposed by others or arises from personal circumstances.
“The final ten short film selections feature narratives that are dramatic, sometimes humorous, occasionally magical and always inspirational.”
Tickets for the screenings, which will begin at 7pm, are $15 for general admission and $25 for the big screen package, which includes a drink and a snack pack.
• Tickets can be purchased through buei.bm, ptix.bm, by visiting BUEI’s Oceans gift shop or calling 294-0204
