Christmas tree lighting ceremony to welcome Santa
The community is invited to the lighting of the iconic Christmas tree at City Hall, where Santa is expected to make his first official appearance of the season.
As part of the annual Rockin’ Around the City Tree event on November 29, attendees can enjoy photo opportunities with Father Christmas and a complimentary print to take home.
There will also be free hot chocolate from Ashley’s Lemonade and a host of live entertainment on the lawn to spark festive cheer.
“The lighting of the City Hall Christmas tree has become a beloved tradition, bringing together friends, family and the community to celebrate the season,” said Lorna Hayward, the City of Hamilton’s senior events co-ordinator.
“It’s a wonderful opportunity to come together and feel the magic of the holidays right here in Hamilton.”
In the spirit of giving, guests will also have the opportunity to make donations to the City’s charitable partner, Tomorrow’s Voices, which has been a collaborator of the tree-lighting ceremony since 2017.
The charity has provided support to families and children with autism since 2007, helping subsidise the costs of essential therapy and developmental services.
Stacy Hill, a funding and development officer at Tomorrow’s Voices, said: “Partnering with the City of Hamilton for this cherished annual event allows us to spread awareness about autism within our community and highlight Tomorrow’s Voices’ vital services.
“We’re grateful to the City for their ongoing support and the chance to be part of this seasonal celebration.”
The event takes place on November 29 from 6.30pm to 9pm.
