BUEI to show films for Black History Month
The Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute will present three films to celebrate Black History Month.
A spokeswoman said each film features emerging Black directors, actors or screenwriters.
Bob Marley: One Love will be shown tomorrow, which would have been the legendary musician’s 80th birthday.
The PG-13 film is directed by Kevin MacDonald and stars Kingsley-Ben Adir as the Jamaican reggae star.
BUEI will then present Summer of Soul (... or when the revolution could not be televised) on February 8.
This film, directed by Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson, is also rated PG-13 and documents the 1969 Harlem Cultural Festival.
The final film, Exhibiting Forgiveness, will be shown on February 26.
Titus Kaphar directs this R-Rated movie about a recovering addict trying to reconcile with his son.
Each of the screenings will be in the Tradewinds Auditorium at 7pm and tickets are $15, or $40 for all three films.
The big screen package, which includes a complimentary beverage — wine, beer or non-alcoholic drink — and a snack pack, is $25.
Moviegoers can get 10 per cent off a meal at the Harbourfront Restaurant before or after the showing with a reservation.
