Bermuda’s own Jordan Claire Robbins, who made her entertainment industry breakthrough in the Netflix sensation The Umbrella Academy, has now teamed up with a producer to launch a film company.

Ms Robbins began the production label Raised by Wolvesin collaboration with producer Andrea Bucko, the Hollywood news site Deadline.com has reported.

It said the venture had invested in several high-profile independent projects including Alpha Gang, starring Cate Blanchett, Channing Tatum, Dave Bautista, Steven Yeun, Zoë Kravitz, Léa Seydoux and Riley Keough.

Shooting for the alien invasion comedy is expected to start this spring.

Another project in the works was said to be Captivated, a thriller starring Al Pacino and Katie Holmes.

The firm has invested in Gus Van Sant’s Dead Man’s Wire, starring Bill Skarsgård, Dacre Montgomery Pacino and Colman Domingo, which recently wrapped up principal photography.

Producer Nini Le Huynh, former assistant to American actor Robin Wright, will serve as creative executive for the new company.

Ms Bucko said their company’s choice of Raised by Wolves reflected the animals’ sense of community, strength, unity and purpose.

She added: “We operate with the mission of collaborating with the best in the industry while ensuring the stories it brings to life reflect the unwavering spirit of our namesake animal.

“As a female-founded company, we take great pride in our work and in the relationships we build with other passionate, like-minded creators.

“From producers to directors to writers, we stand behind those whose talent and vision continue to reshape the landscape of film-making.”

Ms Robbins, who was born and raised in Bermuda by her Canadian parents, landed a major role in the first series of The Umbrella Academy — which premiered in February 2019 — after a friend suggested that she try with an audition.

She won the role of a robot built to be the perfect mother for seven children born with superpowers.

Ms Robbins acted in plays while attending Saltus Grammar School, went on to do a degree in drama in Toronto, and took film and TV classes for a year before signing with an agent.
