Work to cause zoo disruption
Some exhibits at the Bermuda Aquarium Museum and Zoo (BAMZ) will be temporarily closed as work on the Madagascar Exhibit continues.A large crane will be in the facility for around two weeks to install steel roofing materials for the new exhibit, a spokeswoman for the Bermuda Zoological Society said.As a result, the site’s Australasia Exhibit has been temporarily closed, and the Caribbean Exhibit will be closed sporadically while the crane is in use.The Madagascar Exhibit will feature numerous species including lemurs, a cat-like predatory fossa, bright red tomato frogs, chameleons and radiated tortoises when it opens later this year. The steel bars being installed will create a free-flight enclosure between the Australasia and Madagascar Exhibits.BAMZ principal curator Ian Walker said: “We appreciate everyone’s patience as we complete this exciting project.”l Useful website: www.bamz.org
