Remnants of an eco-resort at the present site of 9 Beaches are being sold as the resort moves towards a planned redevelopment.Several soft-sided ‘eco-tents,’ originally installed as part of the Daniel’s Head Village, have been put up for sale after several years of non-use. General Manager for 9 Beaches Robin Gilbert said: “They were up, but we never used them. They were from back before 9 Beaches came on the scene.“These were going to be used, but they weren’t in good locations. Now they are going on 12, 13 years of age.”Since 9 Beaches took over, the tents have suffered some wear and tear. Daniel’s Head Village opened its doors in 2000, but went into liquidation after 18 months.Hotelier David Dodwell won the lease to the site in 2004, redeveloping the site into the 9 Beaches resort, which closed last year to undergo an $80 million renovation.Mr Gilbert said a few of the tents have been sold, but he has advised would-be buyers that because of the semi-permanent nature of the structures, planning permission would be required to install them.One planning application has already been submitted for one of the eco-tents to be erected at a Coral Acres Drive, Southampton residence. According to the application by Peter Adwick, of Adwick planning, the structure would be used as an accessory structure to the existing residence at the site.
