BIOS, Dalhousie unite to create internships

The Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences has teamed with Dalhousie University for a new initiative to create internship opportunities.The Dalhousie-BIOS Experiential Learning Fund will establish permanent internships at BIOS for Dalhousie students, and provide funding for faculty exchanges.The project is possible through donations to Bold Ambitions: The Campaign for Dalhousie.BIOS interim director Nick Bates said: “There is a long history between Bermuda and Dalhousie University.“Building on the successes of a century of resident and visiting scientists and global collaborations with academic institutes, BIOS is very pleased to join forces in this exciting partnership.”Floyd Dykeman of Dalhousie University said: “Dalhousie’s reputation as Canada’s ocean university is not by happenstance, but has been earned through major global achievements in oceans research, marine prediction and policy development.“Partnering with BIOS will give our students a tremendous opportunity to learn about and research Bermuda’s diverse ecosystems.”
