More than 100 Butterfield team members turned out at Warwick Long Bay to help Keep Bermuda Beautiful with a coastal cleanup.

Employees combed the beach, surrounding walking trails, parking lots and the playground to collect 12 bags of trash, and eight bags of tin and glass recyclables.

Butterfield staff were involved in similar operations in the Cayman Islands, Halifax, Canada, Guernsey, Britain and the Bahamas, as part of the International Coastal Cleanup.

Michael Collins, chairman and CEO, said in a press release: “We’re very proud of the efforts that Butterfield’s team put into the 2017 Coastal Cleanup.

“We had 267 individuals take time out of their weekends to help clean beaches and public places, reflecting the priority we put on protecting and improving the natural environment in the communities we call home.

“We look forward to continuing the tradition of giving back to our communities with an annual Group Community Action Day.”

• Other cleanup efforts across the island included volunteers from Bermuda Sub Aqua Club collecting more than 200 bottles and cans at Devil’s Hole.
