Golf event will go green
The second annual Bermuda Championship will embrace a new policy to reduce waste when it returns this October.
Organisers of the international golf event announced today, in recognition of Earth Day, that it would adopt the PGA Tour’s reusable cup policy.
A spokeswoman said: “The revised policy allows spectators the opportunity to bring a reusable cup or bottle — plastic or metal — up to 32 ounces on property.
“Reusable plastic or metal cups/bottles must be empty upon entry and exit.”
The PGA Tour has said it intends to reopen the 2019-2020 season in June with a modified schedule.
The fall portion of the schedule, which includes the Bermuda Championship at the Port Royal Golf Course, is still scheduled to take place from October 26 to November 1.
The spokeswoman added: “The health and safety of all associated with the tournament remain of utmost importance as preparations are made to welcome the PGA Tour back to Bermuda.”
