Bermuda Advocates For Safe Technology is encouraging members of the community to submit their feedback on the implementation of 5G technology on Bermuda to the Regulatory Authority.

Submissions which form part of the RA’s public consultation can be made via the RA website www.ra.bm by the deadline of 11:59pm tonight.

A spokesperson for Bast, which opposes the introduction of 5G without more consultation, said: “We are deeply concerned about the potential health and environmental implications associated with 5G being deployed on our island, and in an effort to assist, have shared our responses to the consultation questions with this release.”

The responses have been published on BAST’s website www.bast.bm

The Regulatory Authority extended its original deadline for public consultation by two weeks to today.

Bast’s spokesman said the group has asked for a further extension of the deadline. The RA is expected to make an announcement of a second public consultation during the holiday season once the first round of submissions had been reviewed.

He added: “Many events have been postponed as a result of Covid-19, and extending the consultation, into the second quarter of 2021, will provide ample time for the general public to respond to the consultation and for the RA to help the public better understand the questions being asked.”
