Public survey on future plans for Southlands estate
Ideas from the public on the future use of a massive nature reserve have been asked for by the Government.
A survey has been set up so the public can give their views and suggestions for facilities at the 38 acre Southlands Park in Warwick.
Participants are asked to rate a variety of features that could be incorporated into the area, which is classed as a national park and protected land.
The survey page said: “Southlands Park provides an opportunity to restore a unique area to create a tourism destination and environmental education centre for the island’s residents and visitors to enjoy.
“The purpose of this consultation is to gather feedback from the public regarding amenities, activities and experiences that should be offered at Southlands Park.“
The survey options include restrooms, a café, a restaurant, a visitor centre, gift shop, beach concession, picnic areas and if it should be pet friendly.
The survey also asks participants to rate possible uses in order of importance. including research and educational centres, weddings and events.
But some have taken to social media, including Facebook, and suggested that the site should be left untouched.
Survey participants also have the option to leave comments and suggestions.
Members of the public can visit the Citizen’s Forum at forum.gov.bm to take the survey and leave their suggestions.
The consultation period will run until February 19.
