Bahamian conservationist to speak at BUEI
People will get to hear a leading Bahamian conservationist, Casuarina McKinney-Lambert, discuss coral reef restoration and much more at the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute this month.
Ms McKinney-Lambert is a founding member of the One Eleuthera Foundation and the Bahamas Protected Areas Fund.
She is also a member of the National Biodiversity Committee, the Fisheries Advisory Board and the National Climate Change Committee as well as the Bahamas SDG Technical Committee for Environmental Sustainability.
Ms McKinney-Lambert is also the executive director of the Bahamas Reef Environment Educational Foundation (BREEF).
According to a statement, BREEF provides grassroots programmes in education, research, outreach and more which impact Bahamians.
“From providing on-the-ground instruction for Bahamians to be stewards of the environment and advocating for strong policy, to actively restoring marine habitat and representing the region internationally, BREEF has a successful multipronged approach to protecting the marine environment,” the statement read.
Ms McKinney-Lambert’s lecture, which will take place on Saturday, August 27, will be part of the BUEI’s eight-part Island Sustaining Ocean Strategies series.
Her talk will be the seventh in the series and will begin at 4pm and will also be live-streamed.
Tickets for the presentations, which also feature Q&A sessions with the speakers, are $15 for BUEI members and $20 for non members.
