The last residential property on Par-la-Ville Road has been demolished with work on the site due to finish by the middle of this month, the City of Hamilton announced.

The city, which owned the property called Rose Cottage, announced its plans to demolish the site last year, but bulldozing did not officially begin until last week.

When the demolition was first announced, a spokesman for the City of Hamilton said that a temporary green space would be put where the home was until a commercial development is approved.

“We explored multiple renovation options and contacted local businesses to see if they wanted to partner, which did not prove fruitful,” the spokesman said.
