Marsh Folly neighbours warned over possible unpleasant odours
Residents around Marsh Folly are being warned of possible unpleasant odours when waste is taken to the compost facility.
The Tynes Bay septage receiving facility collects residential and commercial cesspit waste from around the Island and every six months it has to be removed and transported to Marsh Folly.
A spokesman for the Ministry of Public Works said: “As a result of these operations, residents near the Marsh Folly composting facility may encounter unpleasant odours.
“However, despite the odours, the ministry assures residents and the general public that there is no risk to the environment.
“The ministry uses the best health and safety practices while executing these procedures.”
The disposal operation will take place from January 23 to January 27, between 7.30am to 4pm.
The spokesman added: “The ministry apologises for any inconvenience that may result from this and thanks the public in advance for their co-operation.”
