Drivers and riders faced a stream of water on South Road in Paget yesterday morning after a pipe apparently burst.
An area between White Sands Road and the Paget traffic lights was affected.
Footage from the scene showed cracks and holes in the ground as well as water lying on the road surface.
A Government spokesman said that the burst pipeline was owned by Bermuda Water Works Ltd.
“BWWL did contact the ministry about the situation and subsequently requested an emergency trenching permit, which was granted in the interest of securing the area for the motoring public,” the spokesman said.
“The integrity of the roadway surface of White Sands Road has been compromised and as such will require necessary repair works as a priority.”
