BUEI screens film on potential uses of sewage
People can learn about the potential sustainable uses for sewage at the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute today.
BUEI will screen The Secret Science of Sewage in the Tradewinds Auditorium.
The hour-long documentary shows how gas contained in faeces might fuel cars, how urine can generate electricity and nutrients in human waste could solve the deprived-soil crisis.
A discussion about Bermuda’s waste management will be held after the screening.
William Campbell will moderate the panel, which will feature Colin Campbell, from OBMI, Andrew Dias, representing the West End Development Corporation and the Bermuda Land Development Company, and Tarik Christopher, chief engineer at the waste department. There will also be a question-and-answer period.
The free screening, which is part of BUEI’s Climate Cinema series, will begin at 4pm and is open to all ages.
Climate Cinema, aimed at people aged 13 to 22, presents documentaries and short films with an environmental theme every weekend in October.
