Former KBB head joins BUEI

Traci Burgess

The former executive director of Keep Bermuda Beautiful has joined the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute.

Traci Burgess will act as the head of programmes and administration, which gives her a role in creating new standards for every part of the organisation.

Karla Lacey, the chief executive of the institute, said: “I’m thrilled to have Traci join the leadership team at BUEI.

“Her passion for the environment and proven track record in community engagement have earned the respect of stakeholders across all sectors of Bermuda.”

Ms Burgess stepped down from KBB’s helm last month after two years in the post.

The environmental group saw its infrastructure and outreach campaigns significantly reinforced while under her watch.

A spokeswoman for BUEI said that Ms Burgess’s appointment reflected “BUEI’s commitment to its strategic vision and the long-term success of the organisation”.

She added: “This new role is a testament to BUEI’s dedication to maintaining strong leadership and operational excellence as it continues to inspire ocean stewardship and environmental education.”
