KBB appoints new executive director
One of Bermuda’s oldest environmental charities has appointed a new executive director.
Angelita “Angel” Smith was announced today as the newest member of Keep Bermuda Beautiful’s executive team.
Her hiring came after the charity’s new board of directors was elected in May, consisting of new and returning members.
Ms Smith said: “I am truly honoured to join KBB as executive director and excited to work alongside such a dedicated team.
“I look forward to leading KBB’s efforts to prevent littering, reduce waste and beautify our communities and coastline.”
She added: “With a passion to educate and inspire, I am committed to making significant and lasting progress towards a cleaner, greener and more beautiful Bermuda.”
A spokeswoman for KBB said that Ms Smith came to the post with “a wealth of experience” in marketing and administration, as well as a passion for the environment.
The spokeswoman said this combination of traits, and her history of community service, made her “ideally qualified to lead the organisation”.
Katrina Barclay, the president of KBB, said that the election came as the charity celebrated 60 years of operations.
She said: “The organisation’s value and commitment to the community is unparalleled and this is an exciting time to be a part of a dynamic team.
“KBB is thrilled to welcome Angel as executive director and on behalf of the board of directors, we look forward to working with her to support KBB’s mission, uphold its core values and achieve the organisation’s objectives.”
