People collected at least 100 pounds of trash from John Smith’s Bay this week.

William Frith, assistant coach for the Bermuda Squash Association junior summer camp, wanted to clean up the beach, which the group visited every week this summer while the programme was in session, to give back to the community.

Members of Keep Bermuda Beautiful and the general public joined the 18 campers, who range from under 12 to 15 years old, during the hour-long clean-up.

Those who collected the most garbage received bags of candy from Party Plus.

Mr Frith, 15, said: “The children did an amazing job; competition for prizes for the biggest haul gave them extra motivation.”

He thanked Abby Stuart, from KBB, and Melina Turk, of BSA, for helping with the clean-up.
