Terceira proud of Normandy display

Jill Terceira, the Bermuda show jumper, finished in 106th position after two rounds of the individual event at the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games (WAG) in Normandy, France.

Terceira, riding Tamerino, picked up eight faults in the first round and 13 in the second, leaving her unable to qualify for the third round as one of the top 50 riders.

A total of 153 riders took part in the competition.

“I would like to thank the Bermuda Equestrian Federation for giving me this opportunity to represent at WAG,” she said. “I also thank my incredible team of Michael Collins, the chef d’equipe, Michel, my husband and horse’s veterinarian, Phill, my horse’s groom as well as my siblings who flew to France to support me and to all my friends and fans who have given me shout outs along the way.”

The 2010 Games were held in Lexington, Kentucky.

Terceira has represented Bermuda in two Olympic Games, in 2008 and 2012, and two Pan American Games, in 2007 and 2011, and was Bermuda’s lone representative in Normandy.

The 43-year-old’s previous event was last month in Austria in Wiener Neustadt at the Ostarichi Grand Prix, a three-star event, where she finished 43rd out of 62 competitors.
