Equestrian stars compete against best in Caribbean

Stephanie Kemp competes aboard Good As Gold at the 2022 Caribbean Equestrian Association's Regional Jumping Challenge at The National Equestrian Centre

Bermuda’s national equestrian team were in action on Saturday in the 2022 Caribbean Equestrian Association’s Regional Jumping Challenge.

The format means the island’s top riders can test themselves against some of the most talented horses and riders from the Caribbean without having to travel overseas.

Bermuda’s team, which was made up of Logan Flood riding Storm Watch, Caitlin Niejmeijer riding Helsinki V/D Heffinck and Stephanie Kemp riding Good As Gold represented the country over pre-determined courses of 0.75m, 0.85m, 0.95m and 1.05m, with the top scores from three of the four height divisions determining the country’s overall score.

The competition was judged by Pamela Mahoney, while Heidi Shelley Mello, a Bermudian who is President of the Caribbean Equestrian Association, was in attendance.

The team must now wait for countries around the Caribbean to complete their competition before the end of the year with the results to be announced early in 2023.
