New communications director for ACBDA
Bermudian Vicki Abraham has been appointed director of communications and marketing for America’s Cup Bermuda.
Ms Abraham will start work in a full-time role for ACBDA and America’s Cup Event Authority in September, responsible for communicating what the event means to Bermuda and Bermudians.
Ms Abraham has been a television news reporter in Bermuda and worked in communications at the City of Hamilton, as well as holding senior management positions in marketing and communications in the non-profit sector and in telecommunications.
She said in a press release: “There’s so much about America’s Cup that as Bermudians we can be proud of.
“I look forward to bringing the event to our whole community and making it relevant to everyone. This is as much about the inspiration for Bermuda to be even better at what we do and to believe even more in the place we call home as it is about the excitement of America’s Cup racing.
“As Bermudians we have a uniquely strong and proud culture where we come together when it matters. It’s our intent to give our whole community a reason to be proud.”
Mike Winfield, CEO of ACBDA, stated: “As the AC35 approaches and the excitement increases, ACBDA needed a dedicated in-house resource to distribute information and strengthen relationships deep within the community. We welcome Vicki to the team to help us achieve this goal.
“One of the most important things to ACBDA is that the people of Bermuda know all about the event, understand the significant benefits it is bringing to Bermuda and that those who want to participate, can do so easily.”
Ms Abraham will work alongside Mikaela Pearman, marketing and communications executive for ACBDA.
