Technical difficulties delay Taste of Bermuda ticket launch

Tickets for next month’s Taste of Bermuda Festival will go on sale from Tuesday — four days later than the planned release date of today.

The City of Hamilton said this morning that the launch was pushed back to September 17 as a result of “unforeseen technical difficulties”.

A bartending competition and ball on the lawns of City Hall are among the attractions expected to feature at the event, which runs from October 17 to October 20.

The City said this morning: “The City of Hamilton is advising that, due to unforeseen technical difficulties, we have delayed the ticket launch day for Taste of Bermuda, presented by Mastercard’s Flavours Programme, until Tuesday, September 17.

“The public are encouraged to check the City’s social media pages for further updates and, in the meantime, are encouraged to visit the City website, www.cityofhamilton.bm, for all the event details including menus and pricing.

“The City thanks the public for their patience as we work to resolve technical issues as soon as possible.”

Mastercard has signed on as the main sponsor of the festival, which was described by the City as “an unforgettable celebration of Bermuda’s vibrant food scene”.

The City added: “This beloved festival will showcase the island’s diverse culinary talent through a series of unique, multisensory experiences that blend time-honoured traditions with the latest culinary trends.”

Mastercard is offering a 15 per cent discount for attendees who buy tickets using the card.

Jessica Astwood, the City’s director of marketing and communications, said the partnership underscored the festival’s “growing reputation and international appeal”.

“With Mastercard’s seal of approval, we are confident in the trajectory of continued growth for the festival.

“We look forward to showcasing how this collaboration will enhance the event offerings and guest experience this year.”

She said the festival remained the most-anticipated event on the City’s calendar.

It starts on October 17 at 6pm at Cambridge Beaches in Sandys, followed by a bartending competition at the Bacardi headquarters lawn on Pitts Bay Road on October 18, and a ball and dining experience at City Hall’s lawns on October 19.

A Taste Village on October 20 at City Hall’s car park and the front lawn will bring the curtain down on the festival.

Patrons will be treated to the best of Bermuda’s culinary offerings at the free event.
