Village Gathering comes to Victor Scott this weekend
A free community event inspired by 75 years of public education is set to take place on Saturday with a variety of family activities.
The “Village Gathering” at Victor Scott Primary School will offer resources for adults, activities for children and refreshments courtesy of the Bermuda Union of Teachers and will be held from 4pm until 5.30pm.
Organisers said that 20 representatives from stakeholder groups will be involved, including a mathematics specialist offering family-friendly tips, a doctor, an accountant who can speak on family budgeting and more.
A spokesman said: “A key component of the event will be the offering of an accessible ‘guide’ to the scores of services from Government and community-based sources which leverage parenting, some of which are free.
“This grassroots initiative has tapped into an understanding that by letting families know that they are not alone, the resultant solidarity strengthens the fabric of our community.
“This has restorative implications for those caught in antisocial cycles.”
The spokesman said the event has drawn a diverse group of volunteers to assist and added that free light meals will be available for the first 100 attendees.
