Talks and discussions to mark International Women’s Day

Women from diverse backgrounds will come together on March 7 for an event to recognise International Women’s Day.

The event, organised by the IWD Committee in partnership with the Women’s Resource Centre, is intended to allow women to share their insights and experience to empower attendees to help bring about gender equity and social change.

Juanae Crockwell, WRC executive director, said: “International Women’s Day is our signature event and a highlight on our annual calendar.

“It’s not only a time for celebration but also a call to action. We invite the community to join us for an empowering and thought-provoking morning.

“Our speakers will share their diverse experiences in accelerating action, and it promises to be an inspiring event, as always.”

This year’s event, to be held at Pier 6, will adopt a TEDx-style with speeches from a series of speakers, followed by a panel discussion.

The speakers will include Donna Raynor, an accomplished sports leader, Kirsten Beasley, a respected insurance industry executive and cofounder of We Speak, and Sherrie-Lynn Lilley, founder of Pneuma Consulting and Inspire Bermuda.

Patrina O’Connor-Paynter will serve as the event’s host, while Sloane Johnson will serve as the moderator.

The event will begin with a networking breakfast at 8am before the presentations start at 9am.

The festivities will also include the presentation of the 2025 Woman of the Year Award, recognising a Bermudian woman who has made outstanding contributions to advancing gender equality and empowering women in the community.

Ms Crockwell thanked the support of the event’s sponsors, including Bacardi, Willis Towers Watson, KPMG, Butterfield Bank, Appleby, Arch Re, EY Bermuda and FIL Limited.

“We are deeply grateful for their belief in our mission and their tangible support of our work,” she added.

Tickets for the event are available for $45 per person at www.wrcbermuda.com, with all proceeds used to support the Women’s Resource Centre’s 2025 advocacy programmes.
