West End church invites community to celebrate 70 years

A community fun day for a church at the West End will be offered as part of commemorations this weekend for its 70th anniversary.

The First Church of God in Somerset will hold a day of entertainment tomorrow at the Warren Simmons Community Field.

The free event, which is sponsored by the TLC Institute, runs from 10am to 4pm. Parking is available at the Somerset Primary School Field.

Patrons can look forward to a variety of games with fun prizes, free giveaways and musical interludes, with food available for purchase.

The church will hold a “powerful day of worship and praise” on Sunday from 11am as part of the landmark.

The church said: “This milestone celebration is an opportunity to honour the past, celebrate the present and anticipate the future.”

Reverend Terence Herbert will lead the service while visitors can look forward to a musical celebrations later at the 4.30pm service.
