Bermuda, the defending NatWest Island Games basketball champions, started their quest for a fourth-straight gold medal with a 67-54 win against Guernsey.
Both teams started slowly, with Bermuda holding on to a slim 11-9 lead after the first quarter.
However, a ten-point run to start the second had Bermuda pull away and lead 30-23 at the half.
It was smooth sailing the rest of the way for Bermuda as they absorbed Guernsey’s comeback attempts en route to a decisive victory.
Bermuda will face a stiff test against Isle of Wight today, a team that smothered the Faroe Islands 99-35 in their opening game.
