Yushae Desilva-Andrade has qualified to represent Bermuda at the Paralympic Games in Rio.
The Boccia competitor will compete in the individual BC2 event after rising to sixteenth in the world rankings list following her performance at the World Open in November.
Desilva-Andrade finished tenth at that event in Cali, Colombia, advancing to the round of 16 after finishing second in her pool. She eventually lost to Hoi Ying Kwok, of Hong Kong.
A precision ball game related to bowls, Boccia is played by wheelchair athletes and this year’s Games will feature both individual and team events.
Desilva-Andrade joins Jessica Lewis, the wheelchair sprinter, in the Bermuda squad for the Games, which run from September 7 to 18.
