Newcastle and Tottenham legend Les Ferdinand to appear on island
Former Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur and England player Les Ferdinand is to appear on island this year.
Ferdinand, who scored 118 goals for Tottenham and 68 times for Newcastle during his career, will be guest speaker at the Bermuda Football Coaches Association second fundraiser weekend.
The initiative is designed to raise the necessary funds to continue providing support to Bermudian and local coaches with a comprehensive education and licensing programme to provide direct access to world-class education
“This is a tremendous opportunity for local football coaches, players, football enthusiasts and the general public to hear Les talk about his storied career as a football player with Newcastle FC, Tottenham Hotspur, Queens Park Rangers and with the English national team,” said Dennis Brown, president of the BFCA.
“Additionally, attendees will get an insight into his work as a club executive, coach and football pundit. Les is proof positive that life after playing can be just as rewarding for football players looking to remain in the game.”
Ferdinand will appear at the Pier 6 Complex on November 9, with doors opening at 5.30pm.
The moderated one-on-one discussion with Les will follow from 6.30pm to 7.30pm, with questions from the audience to follow until 8.30pm. Tickets for the Speaker’s Night are $80 in advance until August 31 and $120 for all tickets purchased after August 31. Tickets can be purchased through PTIX.
To round off the weekend, the BFCA will host its first annual golf tournament on November 10, at Belmont Hill’s Golf Course. The tournament format will be a 12.30pm shotgun start with a maximum of 20 foursomes. Interested parties can contact the BFCA president to register.
