After coming out second best in the first international match against Belize on Thursday, the Bermuda women’s football team will seek to redeem themselves in the second encounter tomorrow.

A second-half brace from Sabrina Eiley, the Belize captain, condemned Naquita Robinson’s side to a 2-0 defeat.

After the two teams were deadlocked at the break, Еіlеу found the target in the 52nd and 69th minutes to steer Wayne Casimiro’s team tо victory оvеr higher-ranked Веrmudа іn the fіrѕt оf two friendly mаtсhеѕ.

Bermuda are the nineteenth best team in Concacaf while Belize are down in 25th place. In the Fifa rankings, the Bermudians are 144, while Belize rank 169.

Both teams are using the matches to prepare for the Concacaf League B competition, whose fixtures and dates are yet to be announced.

After playing Bermuda, Belize are set to travel to Cuba next month for more international fixtures in a friendly setting.

On Thursday, Robinson handed the captain’s armband to Taznae Fubler, with Eva Frazzoni, who only linked up with the team in Belize, starting from the bench.

Fubler was part of a large pool of players that have been training on the island in preparation for the two friendly matches.

It remains to be seen what changes Robinson, who declared that they were going to Belize to win, makes to the team for tomorrow’s encounter.

The coach took 24 players to Belize, including the highly rated winger, Kenni Thompson, who plays for Bournemouth.

It was Thompson’s second match for the island, after she made her debut away to Dominican Republic last December.

She was part of the big squad that prepared for the trip in Bermuda, with the 23-year-old expected to head back to England after two tomorrow’s encounter to prepare for the new season.

Without much pressure of producing results since these are friendly matches, Robinson should be able to tweak around her squad to give all the 24 players an opportunity to play.

The coach emphasised on the importance of the two matches against Belize, as they will help her plan ahead for upcoming international assignments.

“These matches are very important as we will use them as preparation for what will be a busy period next year,’’ Robinson said.

“It’s a talented squad and we have selected 24 players, so it comes down to how we manage these players.”
