Nathan Trott keeps clean sheet in winning European debut
Nathan Trott kept a clean sheet on his European debut as Copenhagen came away with a hard-fought 1-0 win over visiting Czech Republic outfit Banik Ostrava in the first leg of their Europa Conference League third qualifying round contest at Parken Stadium yesterday.
The Bermudian goalkeeper made a string of saves to keep the home side in the contest before 16-year-old winger Victor Froholdt snatched a last-gasp winner in the first minute of stoppage time.
It was truly a night to remember for Trott, who completed a transfer to the Danish Superliga side from English Premier League outfit West Ham United in June for an undisclosed fee after agreeing to the terms of a four-year contract.
The 25-year-old is no stranger to the Danish scene having spent the past two seasons on loan at Copenhagen’s domestic rivals Vejle, keeping 22 clean sheets in 56 appearances across all competitions.
After making 25 outings for Vejle en route to winning the second-tier title and securing promotion in 2022-23, Trott featured 31 times last season to help secure Danish Superliga safety.
