Wolfe and Lightbourne Furbert at the double for Bermuda

Bermuda have won two on the spin

Bonaire 0 Bermuda 5

Bermuda continue to make a good impression in Trinidad & Tobago after strolling to their second straight win in the CFU Boys Under-14 Challenge Series on Saturday.

Just as they had in the 4-0 triumph over Grenada the day before in Tier II Group C, Bermuda struck early and often — putting the match to bed before going on a procession of party tricks.

Jeon Wolfe, who netted twice against Grenada, was on a hat-trick here before he had broken a sweat, with goals in the second minute and fourth minute.

Zydon Lightbourne Furbert would not be kept out of the action, making it 3-0 after only seven minutes, with Bonaire having hardly had a kick.

The only reprieve an overmatched Bonaire received came in the form of the first cooling break. But not long after, Bermuda were at it again, as Lightbourne Furbert notched his second after 21 minutes.

The teams went into the half-time break with four goals separating them, but if truth be told it could have been eight.

Naturally the foot was taken off the gas upon resumption as the Bermuda players showed off their superior one-on-one skills and possession retention but largely without an end product.

The one time they broke through was in the 58th minute when a gleeful Adam Barritt finished smartly.

Bonaire were denied even the merest consolation near the end when Bermuda goalkeeper Xavier Thomas-Bassett produced a superb top-hand save diving to his left to divert a free kick for a corner.

Vashun Blanchette’s charges are back in action tomorrow against Sint Maarten at 5pm before wrapping up at noon on Monday against St Lucia.
