Nathan Trott kept his third clean sheet in the Europa Conference League as Copenhagen finished strongly to secure a 2-0 play-off first leg victory last night.

The win boosted the Danish side’s chances of securing a spot in the next round of Europe’s third-tier club football competition, ahead of the return trip to Scotland next Thursday.

After a goalless opening 45 minutes, Kevin Diks broke the deadlock from the penalty spot in the 76th minute. Rasmus Falk doubled that lead deep into stoppage time to give Copenhagen some breathing space.

Trott and his team-mates are now 90 minutes away from being one of the teams in the 36-team League stage. Should they make it, the Danish Superliga side could be in great company, with 2021 Champions League winners Chelsea among the competition this season.

Since completing his permanent move from English Premier League side West Ham in June, the Bermudian has proved to be solid acquisition for Jacob Neestrup’s team.

Last week, his heroics in goals proved to be crucial in Copenhagen’s victory against Czech Republic’s Banik Ostrava, in the Conference League third qualifying round, with Trott making a save in the shoot-out.
