Kwame Steede has succeeded sibling Mark Steede as president of Devonshire Recreation Club.

Kwame, who is also head coach of the club’s Premier Division team, was elected to the post at a recent special general meeting.

According to online reports, the meeting was called amid various concerns raised by members, including the state of the club’s finances and infrastructure.

Steede was elected as the club’s new president after his brother was subjected to a vote of no confidence from some of the members in attendance at the special general meeting.

Kwame, a former national team and Dandy Town player, has wasted no time settling into his new role as he continues to serve as Cougars’ head coach, but has reserved to comment at this time.

Devonshire club cricketer Derek Dechabert was elected as vice-president at last Monday’s special general meeting.

Meanwhile, Dudley Eve Trophy continues tomorrow (Sunday) with a double header at PHC Field where champions North Village, Social Club and Devonshire Colts will all be keen to get a first win under their belt.

Village were held to a 1-1 draw against Paget Lions, Social Club lost 3-1 to Paget while Devonshire Colts suffered a 2-1 defeat at hands of Devonshire Cougars in an evenly fought Devonshire derby.

Social Club will square off with Village at 6pm while Devonshire Colts are up against St George’s Colts at 8pm.

Spectators are reminded that no cash will be accepted at the gate, with tickets to be purchased online at gpass.bm instead.
