PHC Foundation unveil latest Scholarship awardees
The PHC Foundation has awarded $30,000 in scholarships to young people to assist with their studies at college and university levels.
Kairo Lewis, Majesty Wilson, Chavi Pacheco -Hill, Anaya Curtis, Stefan Simmons, Joshua Joseph, T-Syi Showers and Angelino Madeiros were named the recipients at the foundation’s annual scholarship awards ceremony.
“We are extremely proud of this year’s group of extraordinary young people selected to receive a PHC Foundation Scholarship Award,” PHC Foundation president Mark Simons said. “Congratulations to all of our recipients, we wish them well in their studies this school year.”
The PHC Foundation has now awarded over $382,000 since it was founded in 2004.
The awards presentation was held at Chubb Bermuda on August 15 and was attended by PHC Foundation donors, family, friends and guests who celebrated the positive accomplishments of the awardees.
Guest speaker at the event was former scholarship recipient Nazari Woods, a Law Pupil at Conyers Dill & Pearman Limited, who began his football career at PHC at peewee level and went on to represent the Premier Division club at the under-7, under-12, under-18 and Player Development League levels.
“I encourage this year’s PHC Scholars to remember their journey and have pride in the things they do,” he said.
“Display humility when faced with challenges. Channel their inner Messi and be humble. Create communities and give back.
“Thank you to the PHC Foundation once again and congratulations to this year’s PHC Foundation Scholarship recipients. Pride. Humility. Community. We are PHC!”
After graduating from Bermuda Institute in 2018, Woods pursued a law degree at the University of Kent and graduated with an LLB with Quantitative Research in 2022.
He then attended the University of Law where he completed the Legal Practice Course and graduated with a Master of Science in law, Business and Management.
The PHC Foundation thanked the 2024 donors whom without their contributions this year’s scholarships could not be possible.
The organisation’s primary objective is to assist young people enrolled in a program at Pembroke Hamilton Club and pursuing higher education.
