Hamilton Parish came from a goal down to beat Devonshire Colts at PHC Field last night to secure a spot in the Dudley Eve Trophy final against Paget Lions.

Daniel Ball opened the scoring for Colts, only for Parish to respond with three goals through Christopher Binnie, substitute Kion Knights and Leroy Lewis Jr.

A late penalty by Jorj Dublin sparked a last-ditch attempt by Colts to take the match into extra time, but Parish defended their one-goal advantage until the final whistle.

It was Parish who had the first chance to score when Macquille Walker failed to keep the ball down from a brilliant cross delivered by Bell in the fourteenth minute.

Colts opened the scoring in the 20th minute after a great overlapping run by Jaquari Paynter resulted in him picking out Ball inside the box. His shot at goal seemed harmless as Kyle Wade got his hands on the ball, but it slipped through and trickled over the line.

Parish equalised in the 28th minute with Walker splitting the Colts defence to present Binnie with an easy chance to score. The goalscorer was immediately withdrawn because of injury and replaced by Knights.

Ten minutes into the second half, the substitute put Parish in the lead with a perfect strike from a Bell corner kick.

Walker provided his second assist of the night in the 67th minute for Lewis to score his sixth goal of the tournament. The winger received the pass, surged into the box and squeezed the ball in at the far post.

Dublin reduced the deficit for Colts with a 78th minute penalty, the spot kick coming after Jarye Bean impeded Chermal Henry.

That brought some urgency into the Colts attack as they fought to stay alive and substitute Sekai Tatem could have taken the match beyond 90 minutes had he maintained his composure in front of goal three minutes into stoppage time.

As tempers flared, players from both sides lost their cool, with Colts’ Jahkeylo Burgess picking up a second booking.
