North Village and Devonshire Colts to meet twice in knockout competitions
North Village and Devonshire Colts have been drawn to play against each other in two cup competitions.
In the draws conducted at the Bermuda Football Association offices by Shannon Burgess, the BFA first vice-president and competitions committee chairman, Village and Colts will meet in the FA Cup round of 16 and the Friendship Trophy preliminary round.
Village and Colts, who are separated by two points in the Premier Division standings, will meet in the preliminary stage of the Friendship Trophy on November 27, with the winner of that fixture to play Paget in the quarter-finals.
Devonshire Cougars and Dandy Town are the other teams unlucky to be picked for the initial stage of the knockout competition, with the victorious side to face St George’s Colts in the last eight.
The FA Cup round of 16 matches will be played between January 23 and 26. St George’s, who claimed their first-ever title in April, should feel a sense of relief after being drawn to play against Corona League side Inter Bermuda.
Last season’s surprise package Tuff Dogs will seek to repeat their heroics, which saw them reach the quarter-finals, when they meet St David’s. Hamilton Parish, who were knocked out by St George’s in semi-finals last time around, should be wary of Terrace Onions, the Corona League side who defeated Southampton Rangers to progress.
PHC have to wait for the winner of the match between Robin Hood and Somerset Trojans. Cougars have a date with Wolves, while Young Men’s Social Club will face-off with X-Roads.
The draw for the First Division Shield was also conducted, with the matches to be played from December 19 to 22. St David’s, who triumphed 3-1 over Devonshire Colts in last season’s final, were picked to play Hood in the quarter-finals.
Rangers and Boulevard were paired against each other, Somerset Eagles will play X-Roads, while Vasco’s opponents are Somerset Trojans.
