Amir Dill scored a hat-trick to help North Village come from behind twice and defeat a resolute Devonshire Colts in extra time at Devonshire Rec last night, advancing to the quarter-finals of the Friendship Trophy.

Dill equalised in the 58th minute after Chemarl Henry had given Colts the lead from the penalty spot three minutes earlier. He struck again deep into stoppage time to cancel out Jaquari Paynter’s 82nd-minute goal, sending the match into extra time, where his decisive header secured the victory for Village.

The first half ended goalless, with Village being denied multiple times by impressive goalkeeping from Jaden Mills-Furbert. However, the second half delivered plenty of action, with four goals scored.

Colts broke the deadlock ten minutes after the restart when Paynter was brought down in the box. Henry stepped up to convert the penalty, sending Detre Bell the wrong way.

Village quickly responded, with Jai Bean threading a through ball to Dill, who calmly slotted past Mills-Furbert to level the score.

Colts regained the lead in the 82nd minute through a well-worked move. Henry kept possession under pressure, drew Bell off his line, and set up an unmarked Paynter to tap into an empty net.

Just as Colts looked to have secured their place in the last eight, Dill latched onto a long ball in stoppage time to score his second and break Colts’ hearts.

Dill completed his hat-trick four minutes into extra time, capitalising on a long ball into the box. As Colts players showed signs of fatigue, the ball took an awkward bounce, allowing Dill to head it past Mills-Furbert for the winner.
