Bermudians Peter Silvester and Adrian Trott to face off in final

Peter Silvester in action for Connecticut College

Bermudians Adrian Trott and Peter Silvester will compete against each other in the NCAA Division III football championship match on Saturday.

Goalkeeper Silvester will don the gloves for Connecticut College, with defender Trott hoping to get the nod for Amherst College, with the match scheduled to start at 8.30pm Bermuda time in Las Vegas

Silvester was instrumental in getting his side to the championship game by beating Washington and Lee 1-0, being described by the report on his college website as “spectacular in goal, finishing with seven saves, including two huge saves, one in each half”.

Silvester was delighted with his performance but gave plenty of credit to his team-mates.

“We definitely asked a lot of the defence,” Silvester said.

“When you're a ball playing team and you high press, you leave a lot of space to protect behind them. Washington and Lee has one of the best attackers in the country and I think they did a very good job of dealing with him.”

Amherst College beat Middlebury 2-1 in their final-four match and Trott will be hoping to get some minutes after playing 11 games for them this season.
