Justin Bell netted a hat-trick as Hamilton Parish made light work of Young Men’s Social Club at Goose Gosling Field last night.

The experienced midfielder scored all three goals in the first half and nearly added a fourth when he struck the post. Hot Peppers were gifted their fourth goal after the break courtesy of a Trey Tucker own goal.

Social Club’s reply came from captain Ryan Parris, whose 40-yard blast left Parish goalkeeper Nigel Burgess clutching at thin air.

The result lifted Parish from last to eighth place and extended their unbeaten streak to three games.

“It was definitely the result we needed,” said Parish coach Sergio Goater. “To be honest, we should have scored a lot more, but on the basis of it I will take it.”

Parish started strongly, with captain Macquille Walker nearly breaking the deadlock when he fired Leroy Lewis Jr’s cross over the bar from close range. They eventually opened the scoring when Bell slotted home Gianni Burgess’s through pass with a neat finish.

Bell was later denied by the post, while striker Walker squandered another close-range opportunity.

Bell doubled Parish’s lead by dribbling past two defenders and angling his shot into the far bottom corner.

Walker went close again when his effort struck the bar in a goalmouth scramble, before Parris pulled one back for Social Club with a goal out of nothing.

Bell completed his hat-trick in controversial fashion when his goal was allowed to stand despite him clearly being in an offside position.

The strike restored Parish’s two-goal cushion and put the match beyond the opposition’s reach just before the break.

Parish pulled further away after the restart when midfielder Tucker turned Gianni Burgess’s cross into his own goal.
