Dandy Town 1 St George’s Colts 0

Ereico Outerbridge’s solitary first-half strike secured Dandy Town’s spot in the semi-finals of the Friendship Trophy with victory over St George’s Colts at Goose Gosling Field last night.

In the team’s second meeting at this venue in the space of five days, right back Outerbridge bundled the ball over from Jahkari Furbert’s cross from the left, which came off Nizigh Spence.

Town had the first sight of goal eight minutes into the match when Furbert rattled the upright.

Just after St George’s were forced to make an early substitution, Blaiz Hall drew a good save from Jaiden Manders in the thirteenth minute.

At the other end, Spence and David Jones missed opportunities to put the four-times trophy winners ahead.

Just after the half-hour mark, Hall, having succeeded in drawing Manders off his line to leave the goal unguarded, delayed his release, allowing the Town defence to close him down.

Town finished the first 45 minutes stronger after Outerbridge’s goal, with Jones coming close to adding a second seven minutes before the break.

In the 49th minute, Hall did well to keep the ball at his feet but sent his effort over the bar.

Jahquil Hill kept St George’s in the game by producing a brilliant stop to deny Tomiko Goater’s strike in the 64th minute.

Two minutes before the end, substitute Tavez Smith’s first touch saw him thread a pass to Goater. With only Hill to beat, the Town captain agonisingly shot wide.

In the opening fixture, Somerset Eagles defeated X-Roads 3-2 on penalties in a First Division Shield quarter-final encounter. Eagles fought back from two goals down to force a 2-2 draw in 90 minutes, with the fixture concluding 4-4 after extra time.

Khamori Brangman scored twice for X-Roads, while Ahmir Wilson and Rico Beek chipped in with the other goals. K’Tori Butterfield, Dylan Arruda, who had a penalty saved in extra time, Rushaine Murphy and Cardel Henry were the scorers for Eagles.
