Some of Bermuda’s most promising footballers have a chance to showcase their talent in the Charles Marshall Cup Final at PHC Field on Friday (9pm).

At a time when most of the schoolchildren are on island to spend time with their families, fans are in for a treat with some players based overseas set to shine.

The title decider between Warwick Football Academy and Somerset Trojans should be an exciting encounter, with both teams recording big wins in the semi-finals, Warwick beating Dandy Town 5-0 and Somerset beating PHC 4-0.

Warwick coach Richard Todd, whose team feeds into Robin Hood, has a chance to win the under-18 competition they lost on penalties to FC Bascome at the Clyde Best Centre of Excellence last year.

“We’re excited to be playing in the final of the Charles Marshall Cup,” Todd said.

“It allows the club to showcase an abundance of talent who are off island at school. When they return during the Christmas holidays, the Charles Marshall Cup allows us to include those players.

“Luke Horan is one of the younger players in the under-18 age group. We also have Nathaniel Swan, Keiaron Bean, Alexander Rymon-Lipinski, Malachai Henry, Xhavi DeRosa, Chance Eve and Hayden Dill.

“We are expecting good competition from Somerset. They should also have a number of players back from school who should strengthen their team.”

Last year’s winners, Bascome, will be in action against North Village in the plate final, which is scheduled to take place at 7pm.
