Nahki Wells scores winner as Bristol City chase play-off spot
Nahki Wells capped off a fine week by scoring the winning goal for Bristol City against Blackburn Rovers on Saturday.
Wells, who also netted in City’s 2-2 draw away to Sheffield Wednesday in midweek, came on as a 61st minute substitute and struck the decisive goal from a tight angle with his left foot in the 77th minute to earn his side a valuable three points.
The Bermudian striker's seventh goal of the season came after Scott Twine had given City the lead from a free kick in the twelfth minute before Blackburn forward Andreas Weimann equalised in the 39th minute.
Wells’s winner fired his team into eighth place in the Sky Bet Championship on 41 points, just three points behind Middlesbrough, who occupy the final play-off position in sixth with 44 points.
City now have a week before their next match as they travel to mid-table Oxford on Saturday, February 1, with the match kicking off at 8.30am Bermuda time
