Nahki Wells misses Millwall match through injury
Bermuda head coach Michael Findlay may have breathed a sigh of relief after Bristol City head coach Liam Manning gave an update on the fitness of Nahki Wells.
Wells was left out of City’s matchday squad against Millwall on Tuesday night but in his pregame interview Manning revealed that the injury is not thought to be too serious.
“It’s nothing major and just a little tweak that he felt last week,” Manning said.
“It’s one of those where we are just taking precautions. We didn’t want to push him or rush him with what we’ve got coming ahead in the next couple of weeks and we’re hopeful he will be fit Saturday.”
Bristol City are in the race for a play-off spot in the Sky Bet Championship and Wells may have club versus country conflicts to consider with Bermuda facing a two-leg play-off against Honduras this month, with the winner qualifying for the Concacaf Gold Cup.
Since returning to international football, Wells has played only in home matches for Bermuda and with the second leg in Honduras being played on March 25, just a few days before City’s crucial league clash against Burnley, his availability may depend on how Bermuda fare in the home leg.
